I think my 28 yo son may have this

Tue, 01/16/2018 - 05:08
My son has a experienced some major traumatic events in his life including being stabbed five times then two years later he was shot in the chest and was in a coma for a week and a half. About two years ago I watched my son start to become fragmented in his mind. He started wanting to be called a different name he claimed to be God he began speaking in different languages not sure if it is even a real language. He exhibits many of the symptoms of this. I want to know where and how to go about getting him diagnosed we are in Seattle Washington

What are you referring to by

What are you referring to by "He exhibits many of the symptoms of this."  What does he show symptoms of?  It sounds like what they call post traumatic stress (PTS).  I had an eye injury this past summer where a grindstone exploded into my face and eye.  It sounded like a gun shot when it exploded and hit me. Afterward I had strong anxiety and heart beating (nothing like what your son experiences).  The people I spoke to said my symptoms sounded like PTS.  I'm not sure if your son would benefit from a psychologist but a psychiatrist would probably be beneficial.  But to get any help from this kind of specialist he will need to see a primary care doctor for a referral.

Part of the brain’s Limbic

Submitted by Tadzio on Fri, 2018-01-19 - 02:37
Part of the brain’s Limbic System, the hippocampus, a structure that plays a crucial role in memory and storage of semantic knowledge, is one of the most vulnerable structures and widely known structures to be damaged by hypoxic/anoxic injury and hypovolemia due to blood loss.  The epilepsies originating in the limbic system are usually grouped under Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE).  My TLE seems to include the Geschwind Syndrome, including divine sensations and speaking in tongues at times.
