I just started having issues with having seizures about a month and a half ago and since then things have been going crazy. My first issue was when i passed out in my truck and my boyfriend tried to get my out of the drivers seat and said that my eyes rolled back and in started going in and out and the next the thing i remember i was at the hospital. The next thing i was at the i had another incident where i fell over at my house for no apparent reason and started jerking slightly for just a second one other time. EEG was done and it came back abnormal and she stated that it was evident of seizure activity. I was put of topamax but it didnt do anything for me. The seizures seem to increase and the seizures started to get really worse at night at times up to 7 or 8 when i was really tired. but they only occurred at night. THese seem to mainly occur within the first two to three hours of going to sleep and i always jerked on the left side of my body and my eyes either rolled back or at times were fixed and almost as if i was staring straight ahead per my husband. I could almost feel them coming on but then i was gone. I had an mri done but they had to stop becuase I apparently had three really bad episodes during this because of the sound one where per my husband they were wheeling me down the hall and my lips were smacking really hard and my left side was jerking really hard. but i was told when i finally settled down and all that this was not a seizure. Now i am on keppra 500 mg in am and 1000 m at pm. I had a 72 hour eeg done and it came back normal. My neurologist stated that these may not be seizures now or they may be different types of seizures that eeg do not pick up so they are sending me to the epilepic clinic to have a video monitoring done without medication and has suggested psychiatary also. I am not depressed i have never been more happier in my life. has any one else gone through anything like this before. i would rather this have been just a simple migraine has they had originally thought in the beginning. I am not making my body jerk all over the place like this. i even did this during my wedding this past weekend and it was really embarrassing. Seriously i am a very outgoing individual who enjoys life and would rather not be dealing with this stuff. I feel very depressed because i feel like i had a diagnosis now i am feeling like some how i am making my body do this.

So sorry to hear all you are

So sorry to hear all you are going through. Anyone who doesn't respond to the first 2 medicines tried or if seizures are hard to diagnose should be seen at an epilepsy center - so you are on the right track. People can have seizures that are associated with electrical activity in the brain, and these usually respond to seizure medicine about 60% of the time. If they don't, it's time to look at other options. Events that look like seizures can also happen but not ave change in the electrical activity of the brain. they are still happening, they are 'real', but have a different cause. Sometimes other physical problems are going on and these should be looked at too. If no other physical causes, sometimes psychological stressors may be a factor. These are usually not at a conscious level so most people are not aware of anything until the symptoms start. Finding out if they are epilepsy or not is really important as the treatment would be different. Here are few links...https://www.epilepsy.com/learn/refractory-epilepsy-difficult-treat-seizures/comprehensive-epilepsy-centerhttps://www.epilepsy.com/learn/types-seizures/nonepileptic-seizures-or-eventsHope this helps!

ive had a similar issue. ive ha seizures for a yearand a half. was told initally that i was having epileptic seizure because of an eeg. meds didnt work. i was sent to wake forest for monitoring.was told there they were non epileptic. just saw a new doctor and he gave me a new med.it has cut seizures in half, even though he said they sounded like non epileptic. it is hard to understand having one diagnosis then another. i cant work or drive, i cant do many of things i always enjoyed. i am just now having my mind to clear up some. but just hang in there and they will get it figured out. i know it is discouraging, but it sometimes is simply a long process. you could Have both epileptic and non epileptic seizures. hang in thereand just know an answer is coming
