HELP

I'm the mom of a 19 yrs old child. My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago. She has also other health issues, like ADHD,and nuercongistive disorder and several more. This has really turn our lives upside down. People are so cruel when they see a young person having a seizure, the first thing they say , is a druggie. We are both so scared and don't know where to turn. We have gone to the Health and human services office and were told she can't get any health care help. I don't understand the system, if my daughter were pregnant they would give her everything. She needs her medication.... I don't know where to turn. Neurologist has told use that without her medication it could be bad, to where she could even have a heart attack. Social security was denied also. If someone out there has ever been in the same situation and have any advice. Please help us!

I would call The Arc, whichever office is nearby. After that your local epilepsy foundation affiliate may have suggestions. If you have insurance, she should be covered until age 26. Your state should have an ombudsman regarding health care issues for specific questions on plan requirements in your state.
