Has anyone else had this kind of seizure?

Mon, 11/20/2017 - 22:43
Hi, everyone. I hope you can help me identify some seizure-type episodes I had as a child. I have experienced several grand mal seizures as an adult due to brain injury as a 15-year-old; however, I recall some seizure-like experiences at around 8-13 years old which I never received treatment for at the time. It would generally be morning time and I would have the sense of an aura and strange textured visual effects when (and only when) I shut my eyes. I would have the sense of blotches and movement on the back of the eyes and a humming sensation around my head. Speech would speed up but at the same time my sense of time seemed to slow down. I would try to shake off the feelings however possible and generally within an hour or so I would be back to normal. The feeling was very strange and unsettling but I never mentioned it to anyone at the time. Unfortunately, I did not make a note of how often the episodes were but they were frequent enough for me to become familiar with them. I also recall when it happened again at around 13 years old that I thought "Oh, this hasn't happened for a while," so I assumed the episodes were concentrated in the pre-teen years. I hope this is not too vague but I just wondered if anyone else has any experience of such seizures (if they are seizures). Thanks.
