Grand mal seizures - how to explain

Mon, 02/26/2018 - 23:49
Hello all, here is my story. I was diagnosed with grand mal and petit mal seizures. I have no issue with that. The problem is that I don't feel them coming on at all so I can't prepare myself safely. I do get anxious when using public transportation. I used to drive all the time but had my liscence taken away when I got into a car accident from blacking out during a seizure. I woke up handcuffed to a stretcher surrounded by 3 officers and ambulance technician. I've been trying to explain to a friend my concern and they dismiss my fear / concerns. They are pushing me to do more outside and go places by public transportation. My wife has videoed taped me on multiple of occasions and I am an aggressive person after I have the seizure for about an hour which I don't remember. Please help on how I can explain myself better to my friend so they can understand my concerns... Thank you

That's terrible of your

That's terrible of your friend to not acknowledge your experience.  I assume your concerns are that you can't prepare yourself ahead of the seizures, and that you are unable to control your actions afterward.I've often wondered how do you best communicate to others that your condition can leave you aggressive.  I have had problems with aggressive behavior linked to the anti seizure medications I've taken, as well as  the mood swings that occur with my seizure cycles.  I wonder in today's world of "See something, say something" what will others think and do if I too strongly suggest I have problems with aggression linked to my seizures.  Have you ever shown to your friend any videos of you having your seizures?
