Epilepsy Since Infant

Sun, 05/27/2018 - 02:47
I am currently 24 yrs old and I have had epilepsy since i was a infant. My parents had me on multiple medications for years until my mother saw that my seizures stopped and she winged me off all medications. I didn't have another seizure until I was 12 yrs old when I was playing monopoly with my family and got so excited for landing on a space I wanted. Then I went seizure free until I was 17 yrs old and had another seizure during a test. After that I started having seizures frequently again, ruining my dreams of becoming a delivery nurse. I know very little about what causes my seizures, but so far we know that I inherited epilepsy from my mother (she also has epilepsy and other mental problems), soy, stress, and sleep deprivation increases my risk of seizures, I have tried multiple medications like Onfi and 3 others (forgot the names). I have also tried cannabis out of desperation and was seizure free for a year, but they increased again over time. I am now on a generic brand of Keppra and still taking cannabis for about 2 months, but have been getting seizure feelings (I can usually sense oncoming seizures). I want to do more with myself and become a science teacher/counselor, but I want to get my epilepsy under control. My aunt has suggested a dna testing to pinpoint the problem, but after some research I haven't found anything that shows they would test for epilepsy. If anyone has any suggestions I would be really happy and grateful. Thank you.
