Caught in the middle/Don't know what to really do? Try to work or not?

I don't know If I should try to work or wait on Social Security. I was diagnosed with seizure disorder in 1983. I have always worked fulltime & went to college. I did graduate with my degrees. I have never tried to live on of the government and draw a check. I have partial seizures on the job sometimes, not all the time but they happen. Unless I pass out I would play it off as high blood pressure if somebody noticed that I was not feeling okay. I have had this disorder for over 30 years now. I finally put in for SSI in 2014, but was denied 3 times. I hired a lawyer in 2015 but I was still denied. I was told not to work or drive because that will hurt my case. Someone has being taken care of me for 3 years but I think they are getting tired of taking care of me. My lawyer told me it could take another 2 more years at least before I know what Social Security decides. I loosing everything I gained by working and going to school in the past because I don't have an income to pay for nothing. But if you have a seizure on the job YOU are let go from that company. The law doesn't protect me because the company will always find another reason to fire you. So please! don't tell me about the law that protects me because it doesn't!! I have been brought down in society because now I don't have no money or income. I am not lazy. It hurts to be normal for 23 hours and 58 minutes out of a day, But that 2 minutes you slow down you become an outcast in society. Employers say you are not okay but Social Security says you are. How do I handle this situation. Looking for help, Thank You

Despite my seizures I worked

Despite my seizures I worked for parents who owned and operated a sawmill / pallet shop.  Whit open blades, open flywheels, and many other hazards everywhere it was not a place for a person with epilepsy to be working.  But I enjoyed working and the opportunity was always there. In 1993 the opportunity for brain surgery came up and I was encouraged to get on SSDI as this would help improve my chances of getting state medical insurance (Medicaid).  I didn't see myself as disabled but I had to do everything to get this treatment.Surgery failed to bring control of my seizures but I continued to work.  Eventually I lost my disability benefits because I earned too much and proved myself "capable of substantial gainful activity".  I got an attorney to help me with this case.  He had a clever argument that the work I did went against my doctor's restrictions (No sharp objects, power machinery...) so what I did shouldn't count against me. I'm back on disability now but I've learned to play the system.  Like you said the law was no help when I got a safer job and lost it due to some restricted activity it required. The work I do now goes against all my doctors' restrictions but it's all that I can do.  Many would only see the foolish risks I take, but staying still and playing it safe would drive me nuts to the point of suicide.  I got on Social Security many years ago and I don't know if they have become stricter.  I would encourage you to contact the person who represents your state in congress.  They often have some extra leverage.  Plus they need to know the awful situation we who have epilepsy face.
