Tegretol and Lamictal

Sat, 04/08/2006 - 13:05
My daughter is being weaned from Clobazam and Lamictal will be added as an add on to Tegretol. We are having behaviour issues now which we suspect might be in part to the clobazam. Can you give me your experiences with lamictal. Especially curious about effect on behavior and the dreaded rash.

Hi There, My daughter started taking Lamictal in oct 2005 we are going very slowly with the increases so afar the side eefects have been minamal she gets tired and has some trouble consentrating. The effects seem to go away in about a week and a half after the increase. As for the rash I was really concerned about that but I just check her in the morning and night and I have been told that the rash if it were to happen it would most likely show up in the first phases of using this medicine. I wish you the best of luck. Pam

Hi, I have to say that my daughter just seemed more tired that usual with the Lamictal, It was also more difficult for her to consentrate on her school work mostly the reading part of it. For a short while (a few days after we increase the dose she gets a bit blue (as in sad) but nothing drastic. We are only doing low doses two and a half mil increases every 3 weeks. We are going so slow because we dont think going in larger doses would be very well tolorated. I am not sure going as slow as we are would benifit everyone but it has worked well for us. Always Pam
