Hi. My son is 11 months old, about two months ago (10-14 days after vaccination against measles, he got the vaccine early because we went to Romania and there was an plague) he began to have Seizures, mainly to roll his eyes upward. About a month ago he was diagnosed with children epilepsy. His seizures come mainly when he eats, solid food, not milk. They have not heard of anything like this in our country, which is mainly related to eating, is it related? Have you heard of such a thing? He gets Levetriracetam , twice a day 3 CC, still twitching (have Seizures) , but less. I would appreciate your help. Any advice will be welcome. Tal from Israel

You might want to check into

You might want to check into food allergies. My son first started seizures after each vaccination and they became more pronounced reactions with each one. His pediatrician sent him to an allergist because the reactions were getting more severe with neurological stroke like reactions. The allergist found he was indeed allergic to multiple vaccinations, they cannot determine which component in the vaccines, so he now gets waivers from the doctor and is exempt from further vaccines until his immune system is fully developed as an adult and then he will be retested for allergies to see if they are safe for him then. When my son started medication at 6 years old, he started developing GI problems with foods and rashes and over the course of two years, he reacted to so many foods that he was hospitalized for a week as he could only eat organic chicken and bottled water anymore and everything he ate gave him reactions. The neurology team, after monitoring his reactions and EEG over the course of the week, immediately determined that the med was actually causing systemic problems. They took him off meds and sent him to a Chinese medicine specialist to get his system quickly able to tolerate 50 ingredients within one week, so he could eat and not have to put on IV nutrition support. Since he was not medicated, I would then notice that many ingredients and foods that he would still have slight problems with, actually lowered the seizure threshold, so we had to eliminate them. The neurology team in Boston customarily removes gluten from all diets of children with neurological issues. We did not test further for this area except an important barium swallow test for the entire GI system, but the specialists also had many other tests to consider for reflux and eosinophil reactions in the throat, etc. They consulted allergists and immune specialists and cardiac specialists to find out what was going on. They did find he has a hypervagal system, which makes him exquisitely oversensitive to just about everything and anything as it innervates just about every system in the body. His seizures are mainly childhood atypical absence seizures.Good luck and persist in getting to the bottom of the matter and find a doctor that will listen to you.
