Seizure Forecasting Band

Mon, 11/26/2018 - 15:20
Hi everyone, I am currently in my junior year of college, attending Lehigh University. I am taking an Entrepreneurship class, and chose to focus my final project on designing a discreet Seizure Band, that can be worn on the wrist or ankle, which can be linked to a caregiver's smart device in order to provide forecasts of possible upcoming seizures, warning, and access to help lines and tips as well as live biometric benchmarks linked to seizures. I have designed this survey in order to get a basis for my research. It will only take a minute to complete, and I would greatly appreciate your feedback as well as any other advice or comments. Here is the survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WNS2T7F Thank you! Olivia B.

One problem with your questions - it assumes people only have one type of seizure, people can have multiple kinds of seizures - my child has a few kinds of generalized seizures AND simple and complex partial seizures. Would really like a way to know about complex partials but no one has such a detector that I know of.

We use an Apple Watch with SeizeAlert app for our son.  While not discreet, it doesn't look medical.  It sends a text with GPS coordinates with an event is triggered. It a person has an aura, they can trigger the device themselves and are given a short period to cancel if it was a false alarm.  IMO, the silver bullet has not made it to market yet.  Keep moving it forward.
