Nightmares and trouble sleeping

Sat, 04/15/2006 - 08:41
My daughter is 2 1/2 y.o. and is taking Frisium and Lamactal ( I am sure I am spelling that one wrong). Ever since she started taking Lamactal, she has been having a really hard time sleeping. She wakes up about every 20 minutes screaming as if she is having a bad dream. Anyone else having this problem with sleep while taking this drug?

Dreams

Since starting lamictal, about 6 months ago I have had increasingly worse bad dreams.

i have been taking a dosage of 400mg , thats 200 in the am, 200 at bed time.

I am 57 and taking Lamictal for epilepsy and since I am somewhat bipolar it helps with that as a nice side effect....However...

I have been dreaming, at first upleasant dreams now short vivid horrible dreams I awaken from and sometimes the dreams make me responnd and talk violently as my wife related from sleeping with me.

Sometimes she has gotten hit by my body Some of the deams are very short, seconds, reactions toperceived threats in the dreams. and occur in a brief dose and are so realistic as I have to go question someone to see if they just told me something(which I saw in the dream).

I read that changing the dosage time might help...I will check wwith my doctor and hopefully can try it.

Quirky Hi I used to take frisium and lamictal. The lamictal did me no good. I ended up with alot of anxiety and depression. So I came off it. Only off it by a few weeks and it has made a difference :) I would have bad dreams at night too when i was on it but I dont know if that's the drug or just me? For a child it is very traumatising and is bound to have bad dreams. It might be the drugs and then again it might not be. I would watch out for any other effects like her mood for example. See if that changes.

Her mood has been horrible lately. She seems very aggitated and has no patience what so ever with anyone. Thanks for the info and let me know how you are doing from time to time :)
