I am sorry for your stress. My 5 year old daughter is also newly diagnosed. What are her seizures like? Day or night? Long or short? etc. My child has also had some irritability with the meds although we only did half the normal dose.

We have had some issues with the meds as well although we never did the complete dose. She is on Topomax. The first week or so she was supposed to only take it at night and then we were supposed to also start giving her the same dose in the morning. Luckily before we got to giving the second dose, we switched doctors and he decided to see how she was doing on half the dose. The meds are working but I notice a shorter fuse on her and she also is a bit more impulsive when she is angry/annoyed with a friend. She would never hit another child- she has always been a great verbal negotiator, but she has been a little physical lately and I KNOW it is from the meds-especially if she is tired. She needs to be in a good sleep routine in order to avoid the meds affecting her mood.
