idiopathic epilepsy...others??

I would like to contact any other parents that have encountered this diagnosis. here's the quick version: NORMAL CHILD, No family History of epilepsy, Normal birth, pregnancy, etc. 1 grand mal at 32 months, 2nd-4th grand mal 9 days later. Then on medication, Absence Seizures increasing in number ever since. All test normal except EEG. up to 230 absence seizures a day, including blinking, staring, twitching, droping. -more details below- My child is 34 months. Perfectly normal birth, development, childhood, etc. Started having seizures 8 weeks ago. Started with 1 grand mal, then 9 days later 3 grand mals in one day. Started medication and we have slowly increased in the number of petit mals we have a day. We had started with 20 increased to 60-80 went into the hospital, put her on antibiotics and fluids went back down to 20 then none for one day. Then we've slowly increased and now we're hiting more than 200 a day. AND no CAUSE/DIAGNOSIS?!?!?! Back in the hospital medication levels in her blood are maintaning were they should be. We have seen a pediatrician, Immunologist, Infectious disease, and geneticist. so far they have found nothing. The only abnormal thing is the seizures confirmed via EEG. We have done many many tests. Including another MRI, MRS and Spinal tap yesterday, still waiting for the results. I was also the one that talked about the hair smell, which got worse with the seizures, but went away with the antibiotics. stopped the antibiotics a few days ago, I'll see if it returns. Anybody out there having the similar problems with no cause for their epilepsy which is hard to control??????

SOrry to hear about your baby. I have epilepsy myself, but have had epilepsy for a long time. Check out things like, ketogenic diet, neurofeedback. Omega three fatty acids decreased my hundreds of simple partials a month and decreasing some of my seizures too. Magnesium and b 6 could help in the twitching and some seizures. hope this helps take care lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
