Epileptologist in DFW?

Tue, 07/11/2006 - 14:01
My child is currently seeing a neurologist, but everyone on here seems to lean towards visiting an epileptologist. Is there anyone that lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that is/or has a child or family member seeing an epileptologist? If so, could you supply me with a name? Cooks Children's Hospital states on their website that they have one in their Epilepsy Center, but for the life of me I cannot find a doctor on their list with this title. Any help would be appreciated.

The names of the epileptologists at Cook Children's are Dr. Angel Hernandez and Dr. Salim Malik. Dr. Hernandez is the Director of the Epilepsy Center. You can make an appointment with any of neurologists within the same clinic and have access to the help and knowledge of the epileptologists. They all consult each other and can refer you to Dr. Hernandez or Dr. Malik. They all can have your child evaluated in the Epilepsy Center where Dr. Hernandez and Dr. Malik specialze. The key to to get an appointment within the practice. If you only try to get an appointment with one of those two doctors, you might have a very long wait.

Expect to wait at least 3 months to se Epileptologist. Try to make an appt with his/her assistant. My son was seeing neurologist and I wonted to take him to Epileptologist, I waited 3 month for the appt..at the appt I asked him if his assistant can see my son monthly and then he will be seeing him every 3-4 m. It works out just fine because the assistant is letting him know what is going on.
