Another Grand Mal

Thu, 07/20/2006 - 09:43
Kassidey had another Grand Mal seizure on Tuesday. The doctor just upped her meds again. She's on Zonegran, Depakote, and Lamictal. I'm trying to get a 2nd opinion, but the current neurologist will not do a referral. How crazy is that? Anywho...I'm about at my wits end. Has any of you gone through a series of meds, and still searching? That is where we are now.

Hi kassideysmom... Yes, we've been through a series of meds (almost all of them) and we are still searching...we are on our 5th neurologist now and are very happy with him. We have actually seen the most significant improvement in her seizures with him (although this summer they are more frequent I have to say they are less "intense"). Right now she is on Diamox and Primidone (just added Catapres in the evening also). I would definitely go see someone else...do you have to have a referral from her neurologist...can't you get a referral from her primary doctor? Good luck!
