Absence Seizures ??????

Wed, 02/08/2006 - 10:52
My daughter (9) was just recently diagnosised with absence seizures and has started taking Lamictal. Everyone I talk to looks at me like I am crazy, and has no idea what I am talking about. Just looking for someone else who might have some information or experienced this with their child. Any info is appreciated.

My son also has absence seizures.. and yes they are very hard to detect. We also call them the ''spaced out '' seizures, the "I am not here" seizure or zoned out. My son also has myclonic jerks, and drops too... if you blink you will miss his seizures.

Hi there. I am new to this site and my daughter, who is 8, was dx'd with absence and myoclonic seizures last month. She started on Depakote and has increased to 500 mg per day. She has complained of nausea, arm weakness, loose stools and headaches. These symptoms are spaced out on some days and some days nothing. I know she has been on Depakote for a short time and I wanted to know how your son has been doing with his seizures and meds. Anything I should look out for? Certain side effects? Any info would be great. I am new to this whole seizure world that I am at times overwhelmed. Thank you. In Him, Liz
