Hi,

My wife has gran mal seizures and our daughter was just diagnosed (last night) with partial seizures.  She is having quite a few a day (probably on the order of 50-100).  Her eyesight seems to be affected, but, we can't tell if that is really the case or it's due to the seizures (they are originating from the back of the brain).  We just had her MRI and everything came back fine (Thank God).  Our neurologist is starting her on Keppra, 50mg 2x a day.  Our daughter is 7 months old on Thursday.  Also, during pregnancy, my wife did have Gestational diabetes as well.   Does anyone have a similar story to ours?  Did the eyesight get better when on seizure meds?  We noticed that while my wife was still breastfeeding that she seemed to track us alot better than she does now.  My wife is on depakote, so, she obviously was getting some level through breastmilk.

 Thanks,

Chris

My son, Creed, is 17 months old and has just been diagnosed with having some sort of seizure disorder. He started having these "episodes" about 3 months ago (only a few weeks after our house flooded and we had to move in with family) They started very slowly and were 1-5 second spells where his eyes would roll back and his body (mostly just his arms) would twitch and then he would go right back to whatever he was previously doing. For about 2 1/2 months he was having up to 20-30 of these episodes per day. Something wasn't sitting right with me so we went through all the steps of getting him to his peds doc, going to a ped. neurologist, having the sleep deprived EEG then going in for the 48 hour eeg. Now (just yesterday) they informed us of his results from the 48 hour eeg and he has in fact been having seizures (allthough they don't know which type) so they have started him on Keppra (.5cc twice per day) I am really worried about what side effects he could experience and just really unsure of everything that is going on in general. If  anyone has any information they could share with me it would be greatly appreciated.

P.s since we've been home from the hospital (about a week now) myself, my husband, and our daycare provider have yet to see him have even one episode....how does that happen?
