Post Ictal fear?

Hello. I have had seizures for about a year and a half. After my seizures I feel very scared. I have this feeling of fear that is so strong. I’m confused by this.
Does anyone else feel like this. If so can you describe your symptoms as I’m worried about these symptoms.

John, I get the same feeling. I'm still not sure if it's during or after but I get absolutely terrified. Normally my seizures come with other sensations like pins and needles, overwhelmingly hot, nausea, fatigue, and jamais vu or an out of body experience. then the fear hits. I'm not sure what I'm scared about whether it's falling or throwing up or knowing I'm having or about to have a seizure or just unwarranted.Hope that helps..

Hi John, It's not an uncommon experience so you're not alone there. Remember your brain's been pretty scrambled up during the seizure which can cause everything to go haywire and result in a variety of symptoms while your brain's settling back down again. And an intense fear/terror is one thing. Some people also get it in the hours before or immediate before a seizure as part of a prodrome or aura. It's a really horrible feeling to have, even when you know what it is, because knowing doesn't help when it's going on, and if you're still slightly altered from the seizure you won't necessarily make the connection at the time. If you have some you live/work with you can tell about this and ask them to remind you when it happens that it's normal for you to feel like this right now and it will go away soon. I found it really useful, it stopped me panicking.
