I was only on Vimpat for a short time because of a change in neurologists, but the time that I was on it I had no side effects. However, as with every medication that I’ve tried... I would say that it’s based on your individual experience. Some medications are great for some people with little to no side effects whereas the opposite is true for others. Continue working with your neurologist to weigh the pros and cons of seizure control versus effects from  medications.

Continue to monitor the waking up at night. That could be medication related, anxiety, or even seizures that you didn’t know you were having. I told my doctors that I thought I was having seizures at night and because I was waking up and it was only after a 7 Day Video EEG that they caught three in my sleep over three different nights even though they thought I just had “anxiety” or PNES.
