Switching from Lacosamide to Valproic Acid

I have been 400 (200 and 200) of Lacosamide, but I don't find it effective to trear my absence seizures. I decided to change to Valproic acid.. what is the best way to do it? Is Valproic a good option? P.s. health care system in Colombia is trash, waitingg for an appointment can take months, so I am here asking for help.
