Precautionary Supplements

Sun, 06/17/2018 - 10:59
My year old son was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal mutation that can cause DROOSE epilepsy, absent seizures and focal point seizures. He also has gut issues and sensory issues. I met with our naturopath today. Below is a list of supplements we plan to put him on for his yeast levels, constipation, and neurological system. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether any of these could provoke seizures? He hasn’t had seizures that we know of yet...we are trying so hard to prevent them! Liposomal Vitamin C Liposomal Biocidin Grapefruit Seed Extract Liposomal Gluthione CoQ10 Acetyl L-Carnitine Adeno B12 XcellentE - Xymogen Optimal Electrolytes Magnesium Citrate Vitamin C

If he goes on epilepsy meds

Submitted by Amy Jo on Mon, 2018-06-18 - 03:15
If he goes on epilepsy meds later, grapefruit can be a problem with many meds. Many people get assistance with supplements, that isn’t a fix for epilepsy. My child does not have Doose Syndrome but has a genetic epilepsy (determined from seizure history) with atypical absence (controlled), focal seizures (never fully controlled) and myoclonics (controlled). Know that seizures from genetic epilepsies can be difficult to control, but there is some variation as many genes interact. No one likes not having control. Sometimes there will be things you can’t fix so find a sweet spot where you get your child appropriate treatment but if you have fear, anxiety and stress, get yourself help separately.
