Medication costs, I am ready to just end it all...

Mon, 02/12/2018 - 17:00
Seriously though... This is killing me. I FINALLY got the federal government to help me pay for my medication... it is a whopping 25% on $3700! I am saving slightly more than the amount of hours I cut at work to get this help! I wish I never heard of Epilepsy. The seizures are nowhere near as bad as how the drug companies rape you with the costs of the medicines. To make matters worse another medicine I take costs as much as the Vimpat! I have no clue what to Extra help from Medicare was my saving grace... Pharmacy companies will not help as I have insurance through medicare. GoodRX type cards will not help as I have medicare. I do not know what I can do, I just know I cannot afford this. I wish my parents just let me die the first time I had a gran mal.

I am on Medicare part A only

Submitted by KimberlyAnn on Tue, 2018-02-13 - 11:14
I am on Medicare part A only and for awhile I was getting a lot of packets from a company called Silverscript, they seemed very determined to get me on their medication plan even though I did not need it because I am on a private plan already. I don't know if it is possible for you to get on but maybe you can read about it?  I never really did I just threw the packets out so I'm not exactly sure what it all is. It may be a Medicare subscription considering I am on Part A.

Oh and I didn't cut my hours

Oh and I didn't cut my hours but I did cut out things I DID NOT HAVE TO HAVE in order to pay for my KEPPRA before there was a generic. Half of my take home pay went for a months supply. I know that it isn't easy but I was able to get my neurologist to look at the generic keppra. That saved me almost half of the cost of name brand. I have used generics with all my meds except when there is no generic. You can even ask your pharmacist questions. If there is a generic but your neurologist writes the RX as name brand only you then need him to write one which will let the pharmacy give you the generic

Does you neurologist ever get

Does you neurologist ever get samples of your medication that they can offer you? Mine, any time he’s changed mine and tried me on a new one gave me the free samples for the first couple weeks to see how I did on it before I paid for a Rx if I wound up not tolerating one.
