Lamictal

Sat, 01/27/2018 - 11:57
I have never been on any seizure medications before. My doctor prescribed Lamictal (generic) 25 mg that I need to take as follow: Week 1: Lamictal 25 mg twice a day (total 50 mg a day) Week 2: Lamictal 50 mg twice a day (total 100 mg a day) Week 3: Lamictal 75 mg twice a day (total 150 mg a day) Week 4: Lamictal 100 mg twice a day (total 200 mg a day). I have read that the recommended dose for Lamictal is to start at total 25 mg a day and only to be increased in every 2 weeks instead of 1 week. Could anyone who took or is taking Lamictal share their experiences and thoughts? Thank you %

Thank you for your answer. If the initial dose is higher than what is recommended (50 mg per day instead of 25 mg) and the increased dose is faster than the recommendation (every 1 week instead of 2 weeks), will this increase the risk of serious side effect (rash, Steven-Johnson Syndrome, etc)?
