I've tried 17 different medications for seizures but have not tried Topamax.  I also have never experienced the tingling under my skin like you describe.  But the name for the side effect you are probably experiencing is paresthesia.  And one site says, "Paresthesias may occur in as many as 12-14% of patients taking topiramate."  I'm sure you are not alone and you do not need to feel crazy as this is not a psychological problem.  Definitely tell your doctor about what you are experiencing.I hope things get better for you,Mike

A common side effect of topamax is tingling in the body, most often the face. Normally if one ups their intake of potassium it will subside, after a while of taking the medication your body *should* become accustomed to the change. I had a big tingling sensation when o first started topamax, it did go away after a month. The heart rate may definitely be worth mentioning to you neurologist in case you are not getting along with the medication.
