Epileptic Seizure Monitor Alarm System

Tue, 02/19/2008 - 01:46

Hello everyone,

Our daughter's seizure have been occurring during the time when she first falls asleep (she's had 2 and they both happened during that time.)  Since she had her first one (August '07), she has been sleeping with us in our room and her just-decorated-cute room has not been utilized since.

My husband has been researching seizure monitors and found this:

Has anyone out there used this or something similar?  If so, how effective are they and would anyone recommend it or be against it?  Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated!

~Marvy

I am also looking for some type of monitoring device for seizures.  My 12 year old daughter has seizures when she goes to sleep, generally within 30 minutes and they are not always tonic clonic.

I have information from EMFIT, they provide bed monitoring solutions, go to www.emfit.com for more info.  I also have info from a company called Sensorium, their website is www.sensorium.co.uk

We have used the EasyLink alarm for over 2 years for our son.

it works very well.

He has 2-3 tonic-clonic per week - mostly at night.

it was not FDA or UL listed at the time, i'm talking with them now about this.

My 4yo son has seizures in his sleep as well.  We got a baby camera/monitor set that works great. I love it. I can see and hear him perfect so its really easy to check on him.... but should I fall asleep I could still miss the seizure.

our nero-doc said not to buy an alarm system because they cause so many false alarms the whole family is up for a month and then the thing gets tossed in the closet.

I would like to hear more about the EasyLink alarm as well as any other tips to help me sleep instead of staring at the camera or letting him sleep in our room.

Thanks!  Karen -Tylers mom
