Seizures and Uti

I'm 30 and I was diagnosed with epilepsy about 6months ago...a little back story...I had encephalitis when I was about 8, grand mal seizure, life flighted, whole 9yards but after that got situated I was fine. No seizures or medial issues....I was fine up until about a year ago.. it all started when I was about 6 weeks pregnant..small seizures only at night..and always with auras...and not very often maybe 3 before my dianogsis 6 mon ago....I'm just wanting to know what caused this! I have so many therories and just wondering if anyone else has been through something similar. I have a 4yr old and worked night shift with no day care help...so basically I wasn't getting much sleep at all for last few years so I kept thinking that had caught up with me and caused it..?.....like I said I was 6 weeks pregnant so could it of been the horomones?.. I've been on keppra for 6mon..I've had one break through seizure so my mess have been increased to 2000mg 2x a day...I'm still breastfeeding so it made me wonder if my hormones were still out of whack and that's what caused the break through seizure? I've been checked out and 3 times I've had a seizure the only thing similar that's came back was that I had a UTI....but I was symptom free so I had clue I had one? Could the UTI be causing it? Just looking for someone to talk to who has a similar experience! All I want is to be around to be the best mom I can be!

Interesting experience. Your situation is different from mine, but I can relate in two ways. One, my seizures started as a result of pregnancy. My first 3 grand mal seizures were due to eclampsia. So, for me hormones did play a role. My epilepsy continued due to consequences from the stroke from the eclampsia. The second way that I can relate is wanting to be the best mom that I can be. Having seizures will not stop you from being a good mom. It’s all in the way that you teach your child about your seizures if you continue to have them. I still have seizures and my son is now 19 years old. Focus on being a good mom and when the seizures happen, you just simply get back up and be a good mom as quickly as you are able and do it all over again. When your child is old enough, you explain “mom has seizures” and this is what we do when mom has a seizure, etc.
