The Pretzel?

Mon, 12/13/2004 - 05:46

Often at night just before I fall asleep, my left arm will will contort itself into positions for which it is not normally intended. This happens during episodes which have been described as seizures. The right arm and both legs will flail while my neck hyperextends beyond the normal range of motion. I am unresponsive while this occurs. When this activity ceases, I will sleep for 2-3 hours unless roused. If that occurs, I am groggy and somewhat incohernet.  The after effects of this contortion inclyde the involved joints being swollen and weakened, as thought they had been sprained.

Does anyone else have episodes similar to these which I have described?

If so, how do you manage them?

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks - Jessica
