How Long Before You Feel Normal after Temperal love seizure?

Wed, 02/07/2018 - 03:36
Hi Guys, So I’m new to the topic of temporal lobe epilepsy. A opsychiatrist referred me to a neurologist after describing some unusual things that have been going on. I’ve been on Lamictal for 9 years for what we though was BPD. Only recently have we started rethinking things after going through some strange episodes. Went to neuro per my p-docs advice, he thought it might be temperal lobe stuff, and an hour EEG did find abnomalities in the left temperal lobe. MRI came out fine though. Suppose to do a 4 day inpatient EEG exam to confirm things. From the things I’ve been reading, many of the symptoms sound all to familiar. These can come on suddenly, I’ll feel fine then I’ll feel weird as hell. Surroundings feel unfamiliar, detached, trouble doing things and even seems to get extremely scatter brained. Like going to my closet to get a shirt out, stop half way, then start walking away to do something else, only to go back to the closet to do this multiple times. Feel like my brain is melting while it’s going on. In general trouble thinking properly. The only difference is that there might be a climax but I’m still feeling way off a long while after. Still detached, and thing just feel off. For the rest the night, possibly into the next morning I’ll have a dull headache and still feel really detached, depressed, exhausted and overall everything feels strange to the point where I don’t want to deal with anything. I guess the length in time of still feeling weird after is the problem. Wondering if anybody else gets that or if you’re simply back to normal soon after it happens specially with TME. Do you get the same issues where you still feel weird ongoing? If so, how long does that last for you?

Hi Rock, I used to get very similar symptoms. I have been seizure free for about 11 years bc I’m on a buttload of Lamictal.  But back when I did, I mostly had these weird feelings and was a bit confused  but always aware.  I would string together words is that didn’t make sense and I always knew I was doing it after the words came out of my mouth.  I didn’t do anything else weird but just feel super foggy.  It would last about 10 mins. It always started at bedtime and I’d probably have a 10 min episode everhour. As day went by I’d have them less frequently and at the end of 24 hours it would be over. I still felt like I’d been through the ringer and physically spent,  but no weird stuff.   I logged in this morning because I’m having some weird medication interaction giving me that freaky feeling today. No funny language tho!

Thanks Shylie! Hope the

That sounds like nearly every moment of my life. I've gone to put my meds away in the fridge and caught myself for example. It's almost like I rarely have a moment of clarity. I feel confused, turned around, forgetful, scatter brained, almost lost at times. My doctor said I'm having multiple seizures a day and unfortunately things haven't gotten a lot better yet with meds as I'm sensitive to most. I get bad headaches too, thankfully my migraine medication works well for me and I avoid those. Sometimes I wonder how long it will take to find the right medication so I can be delivered from this strange world I live in.
