Erectile dysfunction and epilepsy

Wed, 02/21/2018 - 17:28
Hi everyone! I just joined the group and looking to get some answers and help/advice. I recently started dating a guy, he's well educated, lovely, charming and honestly a catch! He told me after a few weeks of dating he has epilepsy. I know nothing about it, since then I just googled and did some research to get answers. I wanna ask him all the questions I have, what he can/can not do or eat/drink and side effects and... so I can have a better understanding. But he doesn't seem to be chatty about it and I want to give him some space until he wants to share himself. My issue is we have had sex and he seems to have a high sex drive he easily gets erections but he can't keep it. I've read its a side effect of the anti epileptic medication? is that it and if so what can be done? Or is it gonna always be like that? Thanks for your help and support!

I suppose whether or not his

I suppose whether or not his epilepsy has anything to do with it would depend on the med's he is taking to counteract his epilepsy. I think its wonderful you that you are supportive and eager to help but try to remember that epilepsy is a hard thing to talk about. Erectile dysfunction if that is even what is going on I suspect would be hard for a guy to talk about in general. As an epileptic person with medication that really gets in the way of life it has never affected my high drive and performance, hell my sex life is the one thing it didn't effect. I think that you should look for solutions non epilepsy related in this case. Being well fed and rested is important for everyone as is being in the mood. foreplay is super important. You should also look into using good quality condoms as well as making sure they are being used correctly, that aspect can really make it or break it for a guy. (Ribbed never failed for me and my partners) Like it could really be as simple an issue as the condoms, problem solved. Kudos to you for not judging him based on his Epilepsy, that alone makes you a Catch!

Niki  Men with epilepsy are prone to erectile dysfunction. Ask your boyfriend to fill out this survey for a study I am doing on that subject.  Then ask his doc to review his meds and draw a free testosterone level. link to the study...totally anon. Let any other men with epilepsy know they are welcome to complete this as well.   linkhttps://ais.swmed.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=TKX3JE9HHH
