Hi All, i too am new to seizures, i have had them knowingly for 6 months, but now that i look back i've had them for years. but the doctors don't know which kind they are yet and this worries me. i have symptoms of several different seizure types and i am on 3000mg per day of valporic acid(deperkene). i find it difficult to work and just about everything triggers them, sunlight, stress, overheating, lack of sleep. if anyone has any words of incouragement please fell free.

Hi Rick,We will need a little more information: Describe your seizures. For example I have a warning aura about 30 seconds to a minute before I have one, then I black out for about the same amount of time, and the blackouts feel like the energy is being sucked out of my body rather than a regular light-headed faint. I wake up dazed and confused with a lot of jumbled thoughts in my head. I have never determined what causes them, and I am fortunate that Carbatrol controls them completely, so I am able to have a drivers license etc. Secondly have you been to a nuero, what tests have you had done. Thirdly what medications have you tried. Most of us have tried at least two. I love this site! These people have given me the courage to accept my condition, and to pursue correct treatment. I am in awe of the obstacle that I hear hurtled on a day to day basis. You have chosen well. Best of luck to you! --Mersix
