Hi Kimmie:My son has had E since he was 1, now is 5 1/2. I think some things you need to know are what type of seizures is he having? Are they purely generalized seizures or partial seizures? Partial seizures that start in one area of the brain have the least chance of going into remission. My son has partial. If they only start in one area of the brain that means there is probably some type of lesion (scar) or it could be a malformation in brain tissue that happened before he was born. Now that he is entering puberty you need to be aware of some things like 1/3 of kids get better, 1/3 stay the same and 1/3 get worse. If they are generalized seizures (grand mal purely) then he has a better chance of growing out of them. It's hard to say without more information from you.
