Hi, my name is Ashley and I have been married almost 11 months to my wonderful husband, and we've been together for over 6 years. Up until this past April he had a seizure every year to 2 years. I've always known about them, but have never experienced him having one. Fast forward to mid March he started seeing a new neuro and they both decided to leave depaco(not sure if the spelling is correct or not) and move to keppra due to high liver enzymes. He made a slow transition into keppra, forward to late April when he was fully on it, he had a seizure at work. We came home from the emergency room to him have one standing up in the bath tub. So 2 within a day, when 2 within a year is a rarity. We upped his keppra to the fullest dosage, he just had a seizure on Monday in the shower again. We asked to be switched back to depaco since the success rate was higher. His neuro took 12 hours to reply and just prescribed his old dosage. There was no transition therefore he had a seizure last night and was bleeding profusely (I thought he had bit his tongue off.) He was eating when this happened. There is a brief period after he locks up (he makes a warning noise that hes having one) and I was able to get the food off his tongue (yes I know never put your hand in someones mouth who is seizing but I truly believe he would have choked). I happened to be home with these 2 in the shower and caught him, but I am petrified he is going to drown if he showers. I'm terrified when he eats or honestly just when i look at him. I'm looking for signs constantly and I'm just so lost and feel so broken because I can tell he is broken and defeated. It's hard for me to even look at him, because I keep replaying his seizures in my head. I just love him so much and I hate seeing him in any sort of pain, and being unable to help. I just feel helpless and I don't know how to stop reliving these moments. Also he gives no warning sign besides the noise but at that point it's just a brief moment. And I don't know what to do when he has finished seizing but isn't back mentally, he tried physically fighting me on Monday, he has at least 100 lbs on me.

Hello Ashley, I wanted to tell you about my hubby Graham. With me and him it,s the other way around and I have the seizures and he is my carer. We,'ve been together for over 30 years now so he,s become quite an expert at looking after me. He,s stopped me choking on food, drowning in the bath and catching me quickly before I fall to the floor. Even if I do fall via a grand mal he always, puts me in the recovery position afterwards and sits by me till I,m awake again. I love him so much but I,m not sure whether he,s as worried of me as you are of your hubby but I do wonder sometimes.
