Can you get off of keppra and lamictal at the same time?

Fri, 12/08/2017 - 15:34
I'm on lamictal 100mg twice a day and keppra 1000mg twice a day. I can't work and my Medicaid case worker told us there's a very good possibility we will get denied this time since my husband switched jobs recently and makes a little more than what he did but we can't afford my medical. I get mri and eeg once a yr for the rest of my life, plus meds and 2 Drs I'm seeing. My husband's job does not offer insurance. So my question is would I be able to go off both meds at the same time?

Getting off any seizure

Getting off any seizure medicine on your own is not a good idea - can lead to worsening seizures or emergencies, even life-threatening ones. Stopping or coming off 2 meds at the same time is also not a good idea. If seizures get worse, one can't tell which caused the worsening. There are places people can get help for cost of medicines. Here is a link to patient assistance programs. Also call the EF help line or email them and they can help you find resources for cost of medicine and places to help with insurance.
