TLDR 21 y/o f, history of random episodes of weakness/shakiness/numbness/nausea/impending doom/disorientation, wonders if its possibly seizures, please compare to your own seizure experiences. Preface: I have been diagnosed and treated for major depressive disorder and pre-menstrual dysmorphic disorder. I am also on medication for nerve pain that has not yet been tested for a cause. I have a history of panic and anxiety attacks. I believed that is what the following symptoms were, until something happened today that made me re-examine it. I will do my best to explain my symptoms. What happened today: I was at a concert that began using strobe lights. I averted my eyes, since strobe lights have a history of making me feel weak and disoriented, but they were too hard to avoid. For the rest of the day, including right now, I have felt incredibly sluggish and weak, feeling as if something inside of me was askew, like I was leaning to the side though my body was upright. I feel like I perpetually need to be laying down. I can still speak, walk, lift things, and emote. This is the typical response I have to rapidly flashing lights. I also have this response to people discussing medical emergencies or injuries that had happened to them. For a long time, my primary trigger for this actually was hearing or seeing people describe seizures. I feel weak, shaky, askew, sometimes nauseous, usually incredibly anxious and hyper-aware, usually also suddenly hot. I typically feel as though I am about to pass out. I have, on some occasions of witnessing a medical emergency, passed out. During these instances, I have been told that I've had a seizure, since my body appears to convulse. However, I have never had a postictal phase during these episodes. I have always immediately been able to answer questions regarding my surroundings and the events that transpired, even if I often pass out again within 5 minutes of waking up. Throughout my life, I have had 6 definitive episodes of these fainting spells (which were officially diagnosed as vasovagal syncopes) with a number of others up for debate since no one else was around to witness them. I did always believe that these were vasovagal syncopes and that the debatable ones were simply panic attacks. Hit word limit- see other post for comments.
