New to seizures

Mon, 11/13/2017 - 15:13
On 10/27/17, I walked into a room of strobe lights at a haunted house and almost instantly went into a tonic-clonic seizure. I could feel it coming on as my eyes began to flutter, and my neck began to convulse. I went down from there and do not have any clear memory of the days following the incident, just accounts from other people. The paramedics and the two hospitals I were transferred in between treated it as a tonic-clonic seizure and began ordering tests. When I was released to go home, my family doctor referred me to a neurologist, ordered a brain MRI, an EEG, blood work, and an EKG for my continual high heart rate (all to tie me over until my neurology appointment). My neurology appointment isn't until forever, as expected. My blood work came back looking great. My brain MRI was "fine" according to a nurse, who I had to call to ask for my results. My EEG didn't bring on a seizure. They had my eyes closed. WHY? My understanding is that an EEG can't give any real results unless a seizure is brought about. They only did three, ten-second flashes of lights (with long breaks in between), and my eyes were closed for all of them. I was disappointed because I feel like the only way we're going to know anything about whats going on... is if I have a seizure while connected to the EEG. The second light about made me lose it, but it wasn't quite enough to push me over the edge. I just don't know what to do, because I'm feeling helpless. I feel like my doctors are just going to tell me they don't know whats wrong with me. Or worse... that this was just a one-time thing. When I KNOW it wasn't/it's not. It is depressing. When I went in for my brain MRI, it was so loud, my eyes were blacking out, fluttering, and I had the neck convulsing for a few seconds. I have always had this. I have always had hypersensitivity to light and sound. When its too much, it just so happens to bring on a seizure. But, my doctors aren't there to see them and experience what I'm going through. What do I do? I also feel like the medicine dose they have me on is too low. TOPOMAX 100 MG. Not doing it for me.
