First EEG

Wed, 08/22/2018 - 20:05
Ive been having sparatic seizures for the past few years. I had a bad attack of like 20 back to back 3 months ago, my most recent siezure was a week ago. And a traumatic brain injury as an infant. I'm 25 now. So I had my first eeg today. It was supposed to be a sleep deprived test but I had unrestful 3 hr sleep but i normally function without much sleep. I dont think I feel asleep but the nurse told my girl I did so maybe I did. Lol. Anyways i had a couple involuntary muscle jerks while i was lying on my side to fall asleep. Then the strobe test honestly it wasnt to bad but the second pattern made me feel sick. And during the hyperventilation test my arms and legs started to tingle then hurt, my arms and legs started shaking much like how my siezures begin. When he told me to slow my breathing I had trouble catching my breathe. And i was still shaky when i left the room. I asked if anything looked normal or not cuz I just wanna be on meds or something so I can get my driving privilege back. But he said he didnt see anything unusual and to wait for my neuro to look at it I have a follow up with her next week. Thoughts?

a traumatic brain injury as an infant  <<<< well did they say what happened to your brain?? Is there scar tissue in areas of your brain? You see my epilepsy is caused by scar tissue in some of the left lobes of my brain. I didn't have seizures for many years after the fall that scared my brain. Meaning you might have scar tissue from what happened and if you do you will need to take meds. Finding the right med and dosage will be what they need to do.Generally the person giving the EEG notes everything and the neurologist looks and reads everything. In a sleep deprived EEG they are wanting to see if that shows abnormalities. The involuntary muscle jerks may show them something just as what happened during hyperventilation The second pattern in the strobe test seemed to cause you some issues so that too may bring up abnormalities.
