EEG

I've had EEG AND VEEG and everytime no seizures cN be detected does this mean I don't have epilepsy but I don't think that would be accurate. During my 7 Day VEEG while docs tapered meds down, kept up all night, etc they couldn't get any seizures than 1 day after get home I had an seizure. My doctor mentioned he doesn't believe I have seizures since can't get anything on EEGS. Last doc saw said since nothing on eegs that didn't have seizures and referred to psych. While doing reasearch read that not having anything on eegs doesn't necessary mean nit having real seizures unless had seizure during eeg and nothing showed up

Your understanding is correct

Your understanding is correct that EEGs are limited is correct except one can also have partial seizures during an EEG that are too deep and don’t show up on the EEG. Something that appears to be a tonic clonic during an EEG that doesn’t show up are something else (and one could still have epilepsy).

This sometimes happens to

This sometimes happens to people and I had a conversation with the attending physician during my VEEG because I told her about how I agonized over that possibly happening to me because even though I’ve had EEGs with abnormalities my new neurologist told me he thought I had PNES and had referred me for the VEEG. She told me it’s their policy to put people back on their meds and have them return for another 7 day VEEG in 6 months if the first attempt shows nothing rather than tell them “it’s all in their head”. Perhaps you could try negotiating that kind of approach for your care too.
