Does anyone know what I am talking about??

Thu, 02/19/2004 - 19:27
Hi. I am 21 years old and i started having seizures about 4 years ago. I am diagnosed with having Temporal lobe seizures. I just recieved the results of an MRI and was told that my left temporal lobe(which is where my seizures originate) is smaller tha the other. Does this effect anyone else. Also I get really bad migraines about 3 times a week and was wondering if others have that problem as well. I also find it hard to talk, forgetting very common words things like that. Please let me know if any of you experience this as well.thanks

I have a lesion on my left temporal lobe, so I know a little bit of what you're talking about. The temporal lobe is involved in both speech and memory, so it makes sense that you and I sometimes have a tough time with both. Medication often makes it even worse. While, it may control the seizures, medication makes me feel like a dummy. I've definitely noticed a slowing in my thinking, especially when I switch or up my meds. What's more frustating to me is not being able to THINK! I'll be in the middle of a conversation, I'm into what I'm saying, and for no apparent reason I completely forget what I'm saying. And for the life of me, I can't remember!! Meanwhile, the other person/s is looking at me like I'm a big moron. God, I hate that! Heather

I am having my seizures today and earlier this morning I was in my favorite coffee chop and i wanted a delicious looking pecan roll. However, when i went to ask for it, I totally blanked. I had forgotten what i wanted and i seemed to forget how to ask for it as well. luckily I am friends with the person who works there and he didnt make fun of me too much.:) anyways, I am not on any meds because I have been on 6 and none of them seem to work. My seizures and my memory are progressively getting worse. I called my doc today but no one returned my call. I hope that when I go in on March 31st that we can begin to talk about surgery. Has anyone else had Temporal lobe surgery and had it make a difference??
