Weekend entertainment

Fri, 07/14/2006 - 10:05
Does anyone have any suggestions on fun things to do on a weekend evening when ones friends are all busy? I cannot drive and my husband is going to be seriously focused on studying. I have some laundry to do, and I was considering rollerblading to the gym tomorrow morning. I need things to do to keep me out of hubby's hair.

For the weekend, I usually do something that is relaxing. I'm really into arts and crafts so I do that. Even though the weekend should really be for me...well...I can't help, but think about my students and figure out some new projects for them to do in class. I get lots of ideas come into my head as I go along. So, I do the project first at home so they have something to look at in the classroom so as to implement their own project for the day. I have a big corner of arts and crafts supplies. I want to try different crafts, but I already have too much on the go as it is. When we buy our house, I get to claim a room or a corner or something as a sewing and craft room. :) Part of the problem is, many days I don't have the attention span to stick with anything complicated. I love sewing, but I just can't focus on it much anymore. I haven't picked up scrapbooking in ages, partly because I don't have the space and partly because I lack the focus. I'd like to learn to paint, but I just don't know if that is just one more thing to do. :P I ended up shopping on Sunday ;) that was fun.

Although I don't actually get weekends free, working on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights : (. I'm pretty much the same as you in that any free time I've got, I've got loads of things lined up but invariably never get round to any of them. I've got loads of ideas and thoughts buzzing round my head all the time but very rarely end up carrying any of them through. I was recently on holiday and had lots of things planned but in the end just ended up drifting from one unplanned social event to another which in a strange way i enjoyed more than sticking to a rigid timetable : )
