How did you arrive here?

Purely out of curiosity I'd love to know how so many of the people I've met here found the site and what they feel they have gained from it. I'll kick off with my own story, it's one of those fate taking a hand in things type of stories. Last February I had finally got a computer of my own after having to borrow a laptop for my computer classes. Anyway I was due to take an exam on databases and the tutor said it'll be about 30 mins because some of the system had crashed but she said feel free to surf the net or whatever. Purely out of curiosity I Googled Keppra and once I got past all the drug company sites there was part of a story telling of someones experience with Keppra I pressed the link and my.epilepsy.com came up and I quickly wrote the address down. That's not the end of the story though because I was very new to the net so was a bit cautious about joining. I tried a few of the sites (I'm not naming names!!) but none of them had that right feeling that you have when you know you've found the right place. Anyway to all the people that I've got to know, you are what gave the site that feel and it has helped me immeasurably. Thank you.

Dear Andy, You are a great addition to this site. My story is that I was having problems with jerks in my legs for a year and thought it was from my Diabetes. Someone said I should check out Epilepsy so Google took me here. I read the main symptoms and had never realized that Epilepsy was anything but Tonic Clonic Seizures. After a few days, I ventured into a chat room for the first time and met 4 or 5 senior members the very first time. Pure luck and an angel brought me here, and has led me down the Epilepsy path so that now I am aware of what I have and on the road to controlling the Myoclonus that I have been diagnosed with. The support here sticks by you even when you are out of control on Keppra or thinking of giving up when you can't find the answers. I truly believe that had I not had the welcome of that first chat and the continued encouragment of many more additional friends here, I would have given up on my life. This site is addictive because of the caring and friendships that are made. Thank you everyone for all your support. Hugs Andy Joan

hi I arrived here when my daughter (4 yrs old) had her last veeg and I was looking up info on the internet. It showed me one of the questions in the parent group forum. I was hooked right away. I met alot of great people and even some that was living the same life as me and Emily Klair it was the first time I felt like people understood what a day in our life was really like. It is a great site and I am thankful for all the friends and love ones that this site has brought me. She has had sz since she was born and I never really looked anything up till after the last veeg it was the first test to show exactly what is going on and with the diagnose I i felt hopeless and sad even though we knew she had sz. It was weird how having it confirmed forsure was so hard to hear...that is why I was looking up info and info I found with this site..Thanks and I really enjoy talking and cutting up with you all in chat... hope everyone has a great day. Emily Klair's mom..Kari
