Employment Opportunities

I would like to suggest a "Find a Job" section on the main site of Epilepsy.com. Many of our members are highly experienced and looking for work not only for money but for self esteem issues. There are many Fortune 500 companies that send work out now and use people from their homes to do work for them in many areas of marketing research, billing, sales, customer service etc. These jobs could easily be done from home if found. My suggesstion is to work as a community by having all who are interested sign up, create a resume and have a link on this site for Job Opportunities. Fortune 500 companies are looking to send work home and lower their overhead. We have many hard working, intelligent people on this site who would enjoy going back into the work force. With todays FTP sites and webcam video conferencing, working at home is very desireable to some companies. I don't know who I should be approaching in management of this site, but if there is any interest in this idea please let me know and maybe some of us could donate time and skills to get a Job Opportunity section up and going and help with e-mailings to Fortune 500 Companies. Thanks Joan K

Thank you Jenna for your response. I really feel that some of the negative emotions that I hear from people on this site have to do with being alone at home without a sense of personal accomplishment. Contact on a daily basis with the outside business world opens peoples minds and makes them feel as if they are a valued and respected part of a community. Many stories I read in the blog section, have to do with sudden unemployment and the lack of funds and self esteem that losing a job due to Epilepsy causes. If I can help in any way to get a job opportunity section started, please let me know. I thank you, as an Editor of Epilepsy.com, for your consideration and I hope that some of the members who could benefit from this idea will respond and let their thoughts and ideas be known. Thank you Joan K

Thanks for ideas and all the support you give to people on the site. Let's see interest from others! Have you tried any Epilepsy Foundation job programs? Take care, Epi_help
