Autism, epilepsy and meds

Fri, 12/11/2015 - 16:14

Hi there,

My 20 year old son who has autism suddenly developed seizures about 2 years ago. After comtemplating about meds ( my son is very sensitive to meds), we finally decided to medicate him. But the side effects of the meds have so scary and this has impacted our lives a great deal.

He's now on 125 mg of Keppra and 150 mg of Lamictal in the am and 250 mg of Keppra and 150 mg of Zonegram in the pm. He's now a a very anxious young man, doesn;t want to do anything (he was such an out door guy, loved to jog and play tennis), and has also become aggressive. We have no idea which med is dong what. We meet with the neurologist on Tuesday.

Any pointers/suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Suman
