5-HTP or Skullcap - something causing a stupor.

Sat, 10/13/2007 - 19:35
Okay, this stuff I was taking until Wednesday was NASTY. If you're looking at taking Skullcap or 5-HTP to help with your E, monitor your experience with it. I went into clinical depression on Monday and it wasn't until Wednesday night (and not taking any of this stuff since the night before) that I started to revert back to normal. I felt like I was losing my mind on Tuesday. My memory was shattered, my concentration was down the toilet, my tolerance for anything was at the homocidal level and I just wanted to curl up in a foetal position and forget about everything. For about 5 days I had been taking a supplement with the following ingredients active in 2 capsules:5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) 50mg Mangeisum Aspartate 125mg Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) 25mg Vitamin B6 10mg Passionflower 270mg Skullcap 160mg I was taking 3 a day (2 at night before bed and one in the morning before work). It is recommended not to exceed 100mg of 5-HTP in a day (so I was taking about 75mg). There is potential for going into a stupor with Skullcap. As the ingredient were combined in a capsule, I was unable to isolate the ingredient to know for sure, but if you're trying the alternative route to control your epilepsy, I'd strongly suggest you don't take combinations of ingredients like this together so you CAN use the process of elimination. I haven't had an aura or a seizure in well over a week though, so something in my regime must be doing me even a little bit of good :) I'm also feeling good today. It didn't take long to get the old self back after experiencing some REALLY NEGATIVE psychological effects of this REM sleep combo. Has anyone else had experience on either of these ingredients and have had a negative reaction like this? were you able to isolate it? Was it Skullcap? 5-HTP?
