Questions about having epilepsy and kids

Thu, 06/11/2020 - 05:27
Hi there. I'm getting married in a few months and although we're not planning on having kids right away, I just wanted to get an idea of how epileptic mothers deal with the sleep deprivation that comes with newborns and dealing with them generally, like feeding them, carrying them, being alone with them etc. My fiance is a nurse and so won't always be there to help with night feeds. I'm terrified of the sleep deprivation and stress causing a seizure, especially if it happens when I'm alone. If anyone has any tips or resources they can point me towards, that would be great. I'm also scared of pregnancy itself, because I'm pretty sure hormone fluctuations affect my seizures. I know my neurologist can give me some information, but she doesn't have the experience of living it. Thanks in advance. Emily
