Hello, I’m a licensed clinical social worker and certified rehabilitation counselor as well as a person with epilepsy. Without knowing about your friend’s interests and college training as well as the specifics of her epilepsy and any other barriers to employment it’s really hard to offer guidance. I don’t know if she’s ever been involved with vocational rehabilitation, but sometimes they can help with job placement or even training her for a job that is consistent with her strengths and interests. Here’s a link to Vocational Rehabilitation in Indiana. https://www.in.gov/fssa/ddrs/2636.htmUnfortunately, the quality varies from state to state and each office. Someone from the epilepsy foundation may also respond and perhaps the local epilepsy foundation may have some resources too.

Hi, Thank you for posting. A key part of managing epilepsy is knowing how it can affect a person's independence and day-to-day needs. Visit our independent living pages here: https://www.epilepsy.com/living-epilepsy/independent-living  to learn more about resources that are available, (including transportation resources) and when help is needed: https://www.epilepsy.com/living-epilepsy/driving-and-transportation/transportation  Gianna offered some great advice and resources in her comment. In many communities, the local Epilepsy Foundation offers programs that help people with epilepsy to find jobs. Find your local Epilepsy Office, here: epilepsy.com/localsupport Explore the employment section of our website with your friend, to help her manage the impact of epilepsy on work, learn more about her legal rights and reasonable accommodations: https://www.epilepsy.com/living-epilepsy/independent-living/employment-help-what-you-need-knowFor additional information and resources regarding employment, please visit: https://www.ssa.gov/work/https://askjan.org/https://www.gettinghired.com/One of the most important things to help your friend live with epilepsy is to find a support network. Learn more about community support resources, here: https://www.epilepsy.com/learn/challenges-epilepsy/social-concernsAdditionally, you may always contact our Epilepsy and Seizures 24/7 Helpline, where trained information specialists are available to answer your questions, offer help, hope, support, guidance, and access to national and local resources. 1-800-332-1000, or contactus@efa.org. epilepsy.com/helpline
