Focal epilepsy symptom = emotional anguish, anyone else?

Sun, 10/27/2019 - 19:23
I only have focal seizures. I am looking for anyone who inderstand these feelings. When my seizure strikes this feeling of an intense emotional pain races up on me and in my head im thinking “i cant take this, it has to stop or I have to die”. I am not suicidal, just being honest about my experience. It is only during my seizure. Anyway, during or near the end of this mental torture, I sometimes have diarrhea or vomit. Annnyyyone else? I feel super alone with this.

You’re definitely not alone. I only have focal epilepsy as well. I’ve never had the feeling of wanting to die, but after each episode, I do have a feeling of not existing if that makes sense. It’s hard to go on with my day afterwards. Being an engineer and student, I have to be focused and alert at all times, but it’s been a difficult journey. I get super nauseous and vomit after each episode, so my doctor put me on Zofran to ease the nauseous feeling.

I understand how you feel. I get the same symptoms. My focal seizures are like everything is in slow motion then I don't remember anything till I come out of it. My wife who is a nurse says its like trying to talk to someone with dementia. I have that far off stare. My left arm goes limp and drag my left leg and balance is very off. I suffered two strokes last yr. Then seizures started. I have a blood disorder that causes clots so I will take thinners the rest of my life and have to check my Blood INR weekly on top of having an autoimmune disorder.
