Insurance did not pay for Rx

I was unable to obtain CADISTA brand lamotrigine by usual means a few weeks ago, so I settled for the ALEMBIC brand. This presented problems, in the meantime I was able to track down the CADISTA brand. Because the prescriptions were written within 30 days, insurance refused to pay for the CADISTA that I have been taking for over 10 years. Anyone ever had this happen? Should I contact insurance? I told my neurologist's nurse and she never responded. Thank you
