I had what I thought was a panic attack, and when I told my neurologist's nurse, she said to go to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist said he thinks it was a seizure, but he was not really sure. I have a referral with a different neurologist that specializes in seizures and psychiatry, but I am not sure when that will be.
This happened at my school ( I teach fourth grade) just before a field trip, so thank goodness we had not yet left the building, and I was able to escort the students out of the classroom once I realized that something was really wrong, without them being the wiser.
My experience began with confusion and a feeling that I forgot something (not tangible) really important. (similar surreal feeling of deja vu) Followed by more confusion, fear and panic. I am not exactly sure of the time frame ( at least 45 minutes). I was in extreme fear and did not know what was happening. I thought that everyone I loved was dead and that I was dying. I hyperventilated and had an aura (strange sensation of my immediate environment being on a completely different wavelength.) It was the scariest experience I have ever had.
I recently was forced to take ALEMBIC brand lamotrigine, instead of the CADISTA brand about two week prior to this incident. about a week into the ALEMBIC, i was unable to get more than 2 hours of sleep a night. I have been under some stress due to some recent trauma, but not from work, I love my job. The only thing that I had done differently, other than taking a different suppliers lamotrigine, was I danced for about three hours the night before ( i have done this hundreds of times in the past few years, with no consequence), just not in a month or so.
Anyone ever experience something similar? I had very odd terrorizing thoughts...looking forward to seeing specialist to find out more.
In addition, I have had myoclonic seizures on my left side, (lasting for months at a time) a few tonic clonic, absence seizures and partial complex seizures throughout the years. I had a double craniotomy in 1980 that culminated with an aluminum mesh plate (yikes!). Looking for answers...feeling alone. Thank you
