How do you remember to take your medication?

Mon, 08/20/2007 - 12:50
Hello-I'm new here-I was diagnosed with epilepsy about 2 yrs ago. I had a seizure shortly after my son was born, and the EEG revealed epilepsy. I've been taking Lamictal 100mg in the morning and evening, and for the past few weeks I've been having a lot of trouble remembering to actually take it. I think partly this is due to some kind of resentment that I have to take it-if that makes any sense? I use a pill box, keep it by my nightstand, kept a small stash of lamictal in the kitchen incase I'm too lazy to actually get the pill box out of the bedroom. Honestly, the time comes to take it, I have every intention of taking it and the I wake up or get to work and realize that I didn't take it. I understand the dangers of inconsistency, and I really need to get better at this. Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem. I travel a lot (almost weekly for work or play) and that makes the problem even worse. What I have chosen to do is keep my pills on me at all times in my purse and I have an alarm set on my cell phone that goes off twice a day. My phone is always in my purse as are my pills so when I turn the alarms off I automaticlally take my pills. It is the only thing that works for me. And yes I resent my pills as well. :) Try to simplify things. Pill boxes only work if they are always with you.

I take them in the morning

I take them in the morning and night right after brushing my teeth. I keep them in a pill bottle by my bed. I tried the am/pm box and it did not work for me. If I forget one box I forget the other.
