Can Adrenaline cause seizures?

Mon, 04/19/2010 - 11:19
I was wondering if anybody else has had issues with seizures while playing sports when their adrenaline is pumping. I had a seizure at my fist softball game of the season last week and it has been almost since last summer when I had a seizure that was also at a softball game? My first thought was because I was dehydrated but this time we had just started playing and I had plenty to drink all day. I am wondering if adrenaline has anything to do with my seizures during softball, I don't play any other team sports so I don't have any other times where I have my adrenaline pumping or a little anxiety. Anybody else have any experience with something similar t this, what are your thoughts?

At age 14 I developed epilepsy that is very similar to what you are describing. The first grand mal occurred when I jumped into a pool. Medication (Keppra and Trileptal) have kept the "surprise" or "adrenaline" seizures to minor eye-blinking and temporary loss of vocal control. I am now 27, and for the last year I finally kept a seizure journal. Seizures occurred about once a week, here's a list of things that started them: Replacing filter on engine Dropped a plate Juggled a plate Softball Softball Almost tripped getting out of the shower Softball Softball Softball Softball Tripped on a piece of wood, caught self Surprise in a movie Surprise in a movie Banging curtains Climbing Rocks Driving up driveway, person popped out of the porch into way Surprise shot by Nerf Gun Caught self slipping on ice Plastic bag broke while carrying it Tripped coming up the stairs Rolled a strike, got excited Knocked down playing Musical Chairs Tipped over a cup at dinner Reading this makes me realized how clumsy I can be. Occasionally, if I forget my pills, they'll occur on their own, but for the most part every seizure is triggered and occurs instantly following the event. I hope this helps someone. It's nice (in a weird way) to know that this occurs to other people too.

All sounds similar to my situation  I am on Beta Blocker and all seizures have now stopped. I was informed these seizures are not true epilepsy seizures rather non epilepsy seizures therefore I have never been placed on any epilepsy drugs. I take beta blocker 3 times a day morning, afternoon and night. I am rested, relaxed and my energy has returned to normal and so has my drivers licence after passing a stress test...
